Qinxi Dong
Shandong Jiaotong University, China
Foreign Fellow of the Engineering Academy of Japan
Title: Domestic High-End Industrial Software to Empower Intelligent Manufacturing
Dr. Qinxi Dong holds the position of Level-II Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor at Shandong Jiaotong University. He is also an esteemed Foreign Fellow of the Engineering Academy of Japan (EAJ), elected in 2019, and a Member of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE), elected in 2020. Furthermore, he serves as a specially-appointed expert in the Overseas Expert Team of the Chunhui Plan, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education. In 1986, Dr. Dong graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Solid Mechanics from the School of Astronautics, Beijing Institute of Technology. He subsequently earned a Master's degree in Computational Mechanics from the same institution in 1989 and a Ph.D. in Computational Mechanics from the University of Innsbruck, Austria, in 1997. From 1998 to 2000, he pursued postdoctoral research at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS).
Professor Dong boasts over four decades of experience in the development of computer-aided engineering (CAE) industrial software across diverse domains. He is proficient in the core algorithms and data storage formats of European and American scientific computing industrial software, enabling him to adeptly interpret and modify industrial software source code. His long-term dedication to research on supercomputing algorithms and structural big data storage in supercomputing environments has led to the development of the domestically controllable supercomputing simulation platform, DonSys. He has successfully applied his research findings to various fields, including earthquake engineering, engineering geology, fluid mechanics, multi-field coupling, intelligent manufacturing, and the formation and function of novel composite materials. This has culminated in a comprehensive suite of engineering application systems encompassing supercomputing algorithm optimization, supercomputing software support, and big data analysis. Notably, the E-scale (capable of performing 1018) floating-point operations per second) supercomputing software he developed has become indispensable in disaster prevention and mitigation projects and composite material simulation in Japan, garnering significant influence, revenue, and international acclaim.
Professor Dong spearheaded the development of the domestically controllable high-end CAE industrial software—DonSys Supercomputing Simulation Platform—which transcends the limitations of supercomputers, PC clusters, notebook hardware architectures, and core counts. This platform has passed dual certification from the Kylin system and PKS information innovation compatibility certification and was designated as the domestic software for the CAE track at the Third National College Students' Contest on Application and Design Innovation of Domestic Software.
Professor Dong has led and participated in numerous fund projects, including the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science's Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research and the "lagship 2020 Initiative" E-scale supercomputing numerical simulation software platform. He has authored over 80 papers in prestigious international journals, co-edited two academic books, and received three paper awards from the JSCE. Since joining Hainan University as a master-level talent in 2020, Professor Dong has established the "Ecological Carbon Sink Big Data Supercomputing Research and Innovation Team," in which he engaged in the supercomputing numerical simulations of marine pollution, marine numerical modeling, flexible oil and gas pipelines, and power battery heat generation patterns throughout their lifecycle. He has also delved into research on the health status assessment and safety warning of power batteries based on big data.
